Ben Murphy made his film debut shortly after graduation from college with a small part in The Graduate in 1967. His principal career has been on television, however. In 1968 he was signed to a contract by Universal Studios and appeared in several of their series, including The Virginian, It Takes a Thief and The Name of the Game (in which he played the recurring part of a young reporter). He has worked steadily in series since that time, usually as star or costar, although none of his shows has become a big enough hit to propel him to major stardom.
