BEN MURPHY: ALIAS SMITH AND JONES STAR TAKES UP THE LOTTERY!
Unknown magazine, 1983
Even if you were not a fan of his best known TV series, Alias Smith and Jones of 1973 (he's had six series all togther!), you may still be a Ben Murphy fan. Hardly anyone's missed Ben's key performance as Robert Mitchem's oldest son in The Winds of War, the recent TV mini-series--but now's your chance to see Ben every week in Lottery. He plays Sean Patrick Flaherty, an Irish gent who routinely doles out checks of a million dollars or more to unsuspecting everyday people (along the lines of the famous Millionaire series of a few years back)! For Ben's part, he's hoping this new series will revive the fame that Alias Smith... brought him. Though that one-time popular series ended in tragedy (with the suicide of Ben's co-star Peter Duel) and disappointment preceded Lottery (Ben lost out of the role of Face in The A-Team to Dirk Benedict), Ben remains optimistic that now he's making a good move for his career--at least he's willing to give it his best throw of the dice!
